What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with excess oil (sebum), dead skin cells, and sometimes bacteria. These clogged pores can lead to the formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, cysts, and blemishes. Acne typically affects areas like the face, chest, back, and shoulders, where there are more active oil glands.

The condition is often associated with hormonal changes, stress, poor diet, and environmental factors. While it is most common during adolescence, acne can affect adults as well. It can also leave scars or dark spots on the skin, especially if the acne is severe or not properly treated.
